Science > Meetings > 2016 > Metrology and Control of Large Telescopes

Overview

A range of topics related to the metrology and control of large telescopes will addressed, including: development and evaluation of pointing models; measurement of mirror figure and alignment; flexible body control; modern servo control theory and implementation; and auxiliary metrology systems. The emphasis is on cm-wave astronomical telescopes, but many topics will also be relevant to deep space network antennas, and extremely large optical telescopes.

This workshop will be limited to 50 participants from outside of Green Bank with additional local attendees. Registration will include all workshop talks and materials. All housing and meals will be provided on the Green Bank Site. Transportation assistance will be available, with specific arrangements finalized closer to the conference date.

  • Mario Garcia-Sanz, Case Western Reserve University, USA
  • Hans Kaercher, MT Mechatronics GmbH, Germany
  • Michael Kesteven, CSIRO, Australia / SHAO, China
  • Patrick Wallace, Tpoint Software, UK
